Thomas Liston will head Humanas Medicare operations as senior vice president of senior products, the Louisville, Ky.-based insurer announced.
Liston, 47, replaces Stefan Brueckner, who at age 58 is retiring from the company. Brueckner led Humanas Medicare operations since Jan. 2005, which included the introduction of Medicare Part D prescription drug plans and Medicare Advantage Plans. Part D stand-alone drug plans now account for 11% of Humanas revenue.
Liston has been with Humana for 14 years, serving as controller and acquisition integration leader, among other positions. He will transition to the new role over the summer.
As Humanas long-time head of strategy and corporate development, Tom Liston brings deep and varied experience and a comprehensive understanding of Humanas business to his new role, said Michael McCallister, Humanas president and chief executive officer. -- by Rebecca Vesely
