In response to Jean DerGurahian's "IT definitions have tepid impact on industry leaders":
Reading your article left me wondering if I am missing something. For decades, electronic medical records have been just around the corner. Among the many barriers has been the fact that nobody knows exactly what we mean when we use certain terminology. Even though Spanish and Portuguese are closely related and Spanish speakers have a general understanding of Portuguese words (and vice versa), how can we say that agreeing on precise definitions in a common language has little value?
The National Alliance for Health Information Technology is to be applauded for this important step in making just around the corner a little closer.
