Catholic Health East, Newtown Square, Pa., named Judith Persichilli, the systems northeast division executive vice president, as executive vice president of acute care, effective immediately.
Persichilli will oversee one of three newly created divisions amid a restructuring at Catholic Health East. In addition to acute care, the system has organized its operations into a continuing-care division and another for supportive health corporations, said Maria Iaquinto, a CHE spokeswoman, in an e-mail. In her new role, Persichilli will oversee administrative operations at CHEs 23 hospitals. Prior to her 2003 appointment as a corporate executive, Persichilli was president and chief executive officer of the systems 165-bed St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton, N.J. Her age was not available at deadline.
CHE also promoted Alexander Hatala to oversee New Jersey operations in addition to his current role as president and CEO of the systems Lourdes Health System, based in Camden, N.J., effective immediately. In his new position, Hatala will be responsible for CHE hospitals in Camden, Willingboro and Trenton. CHE is also seeking to acquire 223-bed St. Michaels Medical Center in Newark from the Archdiocese of Newark, N.J. Hatalas age was also unavailable at deadline. -- by Melanie Evans
