Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear created a new eTransparency Task Force to design an online tool residents can use to see what the state is spending tax dollars on.
Under the executive order signed Friday, the task force will develop a resource that gives residents access to information on state business, including expenditures and programs in broad spending areas such as healthcare and higher education, the governor announced. People will be able to find out about detailed purchases down to the pencils in every agency, the state said in a news release.
Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary Jonathan Miller is chairman of the task force. Todd Hollenbach, state treasurer, and Crit Laullen, auditor of public accounts, will serve as co-vice chairmen.
