The National Quality Forum opened a public comment period for its draft performance measures to be included in its emergency-care standards.
Public participants have until 6 p.m. Eastern time June 25 to submit comments; NQF members may post comments until 6 p.m. Eastern time July 2. The 10 performance measures, released as the second phase of the NQFs review of emergency-department care, focus on access, care coordination, communication, efficiency and timeliness in hospital-based emergency departments.
The third phase of the National Voluntary Consensus Standards for Emergency Care project, currently under proposal, will seek practices and measures for the full range of emergency-based services, including pre-hospital emergency services, urgent care, disaster planning, preparedness and response. -- by Jean DerGurahian
