Devicemaker Boston Scientific Corp., Natick, Mass., announced management changes that company officials say are a part of a continuing effort to streamline operations.
The Boston Scientific board has decided to extend President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Tobins tenure for an indefinite period. Tobin, will also take over as chief operating officer on July 1. Current COO Paul LaViolette will retire from the company.
In addition, Fred Colen will be promoted from executive vice president of operations and technology for the cardiac-rhythm management group to president of the group.
As we make changes and continue to simplify and streamline our operations, further organizational consolidation is inevitable and necessary, Tobin said in a written statement.
