The Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin, Glendale, is expected to begin construction this summer on a $30 million replacement hospital. The 94,000-square-foot building will expand capacity to 30 beds from seven and operating rooms to 10 from six, said Brian Cramer, the hospitals chief executive officer. Construction on the hospital is expected to end in December 2009.
The hospital is jointly owned by Columbia St. Marys, an Ascension Health subsidiary in Milwaukee, and the Orthopedic Group Joint Venture, a physicians group. At its current location, which is roughly 100 yards from where the new facility will be built, the hospital leases 36,000 square feet from Columbia St. Marys. -- by Melanie Evans
