IBM Corp. announced it is contributing its server technology in a partnership with Siemens Healthcare for community hospital clients that want to reduce energy consumption and operating costs.
The server, dubbed the BladeCenter, brings all servers, networking and security capabilities together in one data center, requiring less installation time and maintenance and reducing hardware space in hospitals, IBM said in a news release. Siemens healthcare information system, MedSeries4, will be placed on IBMs server. The companies said they expect hospitals that use the combined system and server can cut hardware costs by 25%.
IBM in January contributed a BladeCenter server to its medical imaging research partnership with Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
