Regarding N.Y. awards $105 million
for statewide EMR system:
I am a New York taxpayer, and I cannot imagine why it would take $105 million and 19 vendors/entrepreneurs or political pals to organize an electronic healthcare reporting system for New York. The states Department of Health could sure provide quite a bit of actual care for those dollars, and let the creative geniuses do their work in the free market place. A good product would sell itself, with sufficient profit to make it worthwhile. Seems to me that Bill Gates got fairly rich creating and selling this very product I am using to e-mail you. Such a waste of taxpayer dollars is shocking and disgusting, even if the ultimate goal is worthwhile.
