In response to Joseph Conn's "Concord Hospital sees positive CPOE outcomes":
This article is very heartening. It certainly had the necessary ingredients for a successful information technology project: good technology, competent IT management and most importantly, full support from top management. Take any of those ingredients away and you will see the flicker of torches outside the IT office.
Kudos to the physicians who took the time in their busy, vital schedules to learn to use the CPOE system. I honestly believe that we have a chance to wrestle to the ground the costs of our best-in-breed U.S. healthcare system at least partly through the judicious application of medically designed IT. I have witnessed up close and personally the great improvements in imaging timing and quality though what my end of the medical planet does, and it is wonderful to hear of successes in related technical fields.
