Leslie Hirsch, president and chief executive officer of Touro Infirmary in New Orleans and a former New Jersey healthcare executive, will become president and CEO of St. Clares Health System in Denville, N.J.
Hirsch, 55, will assume his new post in May but the appointment becomes effective on April 1 when St. Clares joins Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives, which has managed St. Clares in recent months. Hirsch has headed Touro since 2005, joining the hospital just one week before Hurricane Katrina and subsequently leading the evacuation of more than 200 patients.
During his 30-year healthcare career, he served as president and CEO of Exempla St. Joseph Hospital in Denver from 2002 to 2005 and as president of Cooper Health System in Camden, N.J., from 1999 to 2002. A New Jersey native, Hirsch holds a masters degree in public health from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford, N.J., and a bachelors degree in political science from William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J. -- by Cinda Becker
