Mark Leavitt, chairman of the federally supported, not-for-profit Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, announced the launch of a Web site, EHRDecisions.com, to help educate physicians on electronic health-record systems and the value of having those systems tested and certified by CCHIT.
The announcement was made Monday at the annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society trade show in Orlando, Fla.
The site will help physicians determine their readiness for adoption of EHRs and provide advice on how to get started. Readers will be able to post comments and questions and the site will include commentaries, videos and podcasts by industry experts, CCHIT said in a news release.
"Certification has helped with EHR selection decisions, but we've learned that physicians still need a lot more information to succeed in EHR adoption and gain full value from the technology," Leavitt said in the release. "By focusing this new Web site tightly on the knowledge physicians need to make better decisions about EHRs, we hope to help close that gap."
