Denny Shelton, chairman of Legacy Hospital Partners, has been named an executive adviser to CCMP Capital Advisors, one of the main investors in Legacy.
Shelton and other former Triad Hospital executives launched Legacy, Plano, Texas, last month with investment from CCMP and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, as well as a stake for management. Shelton, 54, was the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Triad Hospitals between its spinoff from HCA in 1999 to its sale for $6.97 billion to Community Health Systems in July 2007.
CCMP, New York, was one of two private-equity firms that backed a $6.4 billion leveraged buyout of Triad that was trumped by Communitys offer. Nancy-Ann DeParle, who headed the Health Care Financing Administrationnow the CMSfrom 1997 to 2001, is a managing director of CCMP. DeParle was a Triad director and serves on the board of Legacy.
CCMP also named John Bowlin, former president of Kraft Foods and former president and CEO of Miller Brewing Co., as an executive adviser to the firm. -- by Vince Galloro
