Duke University Health System, Durham, N.C., has named Kerry Watson as the chief executive officer of 270-bed Durham (N.C.) Regional Hospital. Watson, 58, has worked in leadership positions within the Duke system for 10 years. Most recently, he has been senior associate operating officer at the systems flagship, 761-bed Duke University Hospital, Durham.
Before joining Duke, Watson worked in various leadership positions at 417-bed Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Springs, Md., for six years and in the radiology department at 282-bed Howard University Hospital, Washington. Watson also had a stint as an administrative officer in radiology at 261-bed Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington.
Watson replaces interim CEO Fran Mauney, who has led Durham Regional since August 2007. -- by Vince Galloro
