When Peter Orszag gets his acute onset of abdominal pain, weight loss or a lump under his arm, then let's ask how quickly he would like to forgo technology "because it hasn't been rigorously demonstrated." Or would he rather die at age 62, which was his approximate life expectancy when Medicare started in 1965 without all this awful unproven technology?
