GE Healthcare, Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., has reached an agreement to purchase medical devicemaker Whatman, Maidstone, U.K., for approximately $713 million, pending stockholder and regulatory approval.
Whatman is a worldwide manufacturer of filtration and membrane products used in laboratory work. The companys products will complement GE Healthcares existing line of life-science products used in vaccine, cell-therapy and antibody development, according to a GE news release. -- by Shawn Rhea
