Tenet Healthcare Corp., Dallas, said a subsidiary signed a definitive agreement to sell 391-bed North Ridge Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Holy Cross Hospital, a 450-bed Fort Lauderdale hospital owned by Catholic Health East, a 24-hospital Catholic system based in Newtown Square, Pa. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
We are currently exploring a series of plans and options to evaluate the resources North Ridge may offer to support the Holy Cross mission and further serve the community, said John Johnson, Holy Cross president and chief executive officer, in a written statement.
Tenet, which announced its intention to sell North Ridge in November 2007, said the deal is expected to close in 60 days. Tenet owns 57 hospitals, three of which are being held for sale, including North Ridge. -- by Melanie Evans
