St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo., said its chief executive officer, Gordon Docking, has resigned, effective Feb. 22. Docking, 52, is leaving to pursue new career opportunities, according to the hospitals parent, Carondelet Health, Kansas City, which is a member of Ascension Health, St. Louis.
Docking joined the hospital in 1992 as director of marketing and public relations after a 12-year career in TV journalism. Two years later, Docking was put in charge of outpatient services at the hospital. In 1997, he became vice president of Carondelet Health, overseeing outpatient and post-acute services at the local systems two hospitals, and a year later, he was promoted to CEO of the other Carondelet hospital, 134-bed St. Marys Medical Center in Blue Springs, Mo. Docking moved to the same position at St. Joseph in 2005.
While a search is conducted for Dockings successor, Carondelet CEO Fleury Yelvington will fill the position on an interim basis. -- by Vince Galloro
