St. Vincents Medical Center, Jacksonville, Fla., named Gene Miyamoto to succeed Scott Whalen as chief operating officer.
Miyamoto, COO of 393-bed Battle Creek (Mich.) Health System since 2002, will join St. Vincents in mid-February. Whalen, 55, was appointed chief executive officer of the 465-bed hospital in late July.
Miyamoto was corporate chief of staff for Herman Miller, Holland, Mich., and served as a hospital executive in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan. He earned a masters degree in health service administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Miyamotos age was not available at deadline. -- by Melanie Evans
