Eclipsys Corp. has sold one of its resource centers just three years after acquiring it in a $25 million deal effective yesterday, the company announced.
Elsevier, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, bought the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Clinical Practice Model Resource Center, which provides evidence-based clinical content and services. Elsevier publishes scientific, technical and health information products and services and will use the resource center to leverage its expertise in researching, maintaining and distributing medical content. The resource center employees will become part of Elsevier as well.
The Atlanta-based company bought the resource center in 2004 as part of its initiative to identify market needs for electronic, evidence-based practices that could be integrated into clinical workflow. Eclipsys said it will focus on expanding its knowledge-support tools, which integrates data sources in clinical documentations software.
