Jeff Ashin is leaving a Catholic Healthcare Partners hospital in Fairfield, Ohio, to oversee four hospitals in the Knoxville, Tenn., area. Those hospitals are expected to be under a new umbrella organization pending the merger of Baptist Health System of East Tennessee and St. Marys Health System, which is part of Catholic Healthcare Partners. The Federal Trade Commission granted the systems clearance to merge this week.
Ashin, 54, joined Mercy Hospital Fairfield in 2004, as executive director of its heart hospital and became president and chief executive officer of the hospital in August 2005. Ashin is scheduled to remain at Mercy Fairfield through Jan. 17. Patricia Davis-Hagens, chief nursing officer, will serve as interim president and CEO. -- by Vince Galloro
