Gail Boudreaux, executive vice president of external operations at Chicago-based Health Care Service Corp., is resigning effective April 1, 2008.
Boudreaux, 47, oversees the companys Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, along with life, disability and dental subsidiaries. She also has appeared in company advertisements.
In a written statement, Boudreaux said that after more than five years with HCSC she has decided the time is right for me to explore other opportunities.
Over the past two years, she grew health plan membership by 1.2 million consumers, and increased market share in most markets, according to the company. In November, Patricia Hemingway Hall was promoted to president and chief operating officer from vice president of internal operations. The company has 11.5 million members.
