Gordon Williams has been appointed interim chief executive officer of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, effective Dec. 31, the university said. Williams is leaving a job as vice dean for administration and finance at Duke University School of Medicine, vice chancellor for operations at Duke University Medical Center and vice president for administration at Duke University Health System, all in Durham, N.C. Williams earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa and also worked for the university health system previously.
Williams will lead the Iowa system while the university conducts a national search for someone to fill the position on a long-term basis, said Jean Robillard, the universitys vice president for medical affairs. Donna Katen-Bahensky left the position earlier this month when she was named president and CEO of University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, Madison, effective Feb. 4, 2008. -- by Vince Galloro
