Patrick Lupinetti has been named to the new position of vice president and editorial director, government and pricing services, for First DataBank, a San Bruno, Calif.-based Hearst Corp. subsidiary that provides drug databases for patient safety and quality-improvement efforts. He starts Jan. 8, and will have responsibility for publishing the company's drug-pricing information.
Lupinetti, 52, has worked in the New York state attorney general's office for 21 years. For the past 10 years, he has directed its medical fraud control special projects unit where he planned and supervised fraud and abuse investigations involving personal-care providers, hospitals and nursing homes, a news release said.
"My work on pharmaceutical pricing issues has made it clear to me that accurate, verifiable and clearly defined drug pricing data is fundamentally necessary for a fair and rational marketplace," Lupinetti said in the release. -- by Andis Robeznieks / HITS staff writer
