Bridges to Excellence, a not-for-profit, quality-of-care coalition, is launching a rewards program for health plans to recognize outperforming physicians.
The BTE Inside Certification and BTE Incentive and Reward Program were designed to eliminate redundant provider incentives and reduce employers' administrative expenses.
Shifting to a more flexible implementation plan will increase market coordination and lead to increased physician attention and better improvement, said Francois de Brantes, national coordinator of the Washington, D.C.-based BTE, in a written statement. More information is available at the BTE Web site.
In related news, BTE has elected new 2008 officers, including Charles Montreuil, vice president of corporate human resources of Carlson Companies as board chairman and president; George Isham, chief health officer and plan medical director for HealthPartners as secretary; Pascale Thomas, director of planning, communications and public policy for Verizon Communications as treasurer; and Troyen Brennan, senior vice president and chief medical officer of Aetna as board director. -- by Rebecca Vesely
