Citing differences in management philosophy, Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health has terminated the contract of its president and chief executive officer, Gregory Burfitt, 58, effective today, according to a news release.
Chief Operating Officer Arlen Reynolds will take over as interim president and CEO of the 12-hospital system.
I believe deeply in Centuras mission and want the organization to remain stable and on course, Reynolds said in a news release. I am honored to work with a tremendous group of leaders and associates throughout our organization who also are deeply committed to Centuras mission of extending Christs healing ministry.
Burfitt had been named to the post in September 2005 and he replaced Joseph Swedish who resigned to become president and CEO of Trinity Health in Novi, Mich. Previously, Burfitt had been COO for Inova Health System, a six-hospital system based in Falls Church, Va.
Centura Health is a joint venture organization that was formed in 1996 by Catholic Health Initiatives Colorado and Adventist Health System. -- by Andis Robeznieks
