Athenahealth, Watertown, Mass., a developer of application service provider model electronic health records and practice-management software, has signed an agreement to buy a facility for a new operations center located in Belfast, Maine, from a subsidiary of Bank of America, Athenahealth announced.
The 130,000-square-foot building and its 53-acre campus was purchased from Bracebridge Corporate, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of America. Closing on the deal is expected to occur before Feb. 16. It will give the information technology developer a second operations center. According to a news release, Athenahealth worked with the not-for-profit Maine & Co. business development organization in selecting the sitelocated in the state's Pine Tree Development Zonewhich provides tax incentives to encourage companies to locate in areas with high unemployment rates.
