Michael Stearns, M.D., has been promoted to president of e-MDs, the electronic health-record company says. Stearns, 49, has worked for Austin, Texas-based e-MDs since 2006. Stearns also is a member of the Health Information Technology Standards Panel, a federally supported organization that develops standards to create a national health information network. He holds degrees from Georgetown University School of Medicine and the University of New York at Albany and completed his residency at the University of Maryland Hospital. The companys founder, David Winn, M.D., will remain as chief executive officer and chairman of the board.
