Police are investigating the theft of three computers from the Veterans Administration hospital in Indianapolis. Officials say one of the computers contained files on about 12,000 patients. The Veterans Affairs Department says the computers were stolen from locked offices at the 150-bed Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Saturday.
VA officials say patient information is protected by passwords, but patients whose information may have been stolen are being contacted. The VA is also offering one year of free credit monitoring to those affected.
