Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, Va., and the Carilion Clinic, Roanoke, Va., named Cynda Ann Johnson as dean of their joint-venture medical school, which is expected to open in 2010.
Johnson, senior associate vice chancellor for clinical and translational research at East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C., will join the fledgling medical school in January. She was formerly dean and professor of family medicine at East Carolina Universitys Brody School of Medicine. She is board chairwoman of the American Board of Medical Specialties. -- by Melanie Evans
