St. Davids HealthCare, Austin, Texas, named Mark Clayton as senior vice president of strategic planning and development, effective immediately. Clayton, 50, succeeds Richard Hammett, 38, who held the position since 2005 and was recently named chief operating officer for St. Davids Medical Center.
Most recently, Clayton served as regional vice president and chief development officer for the five-hospital Baptist Health System in San Antonio. Previously he served as chief executive officer of North Central Baptist Hospital, San Antonio, and earlier as a regional vice president for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia, where he supervised operations, sales, marketing and provider relations for a 20-county region. His healthcare experience also includes leadership roles at some of the Hospital Corporation of Americas hospitals in Virginia and Georgia. Clayton earned a bachelors degree from Louisiana State University and a masters in health administration from the Medical College of Virginia.
