The Joint Commission announced the recipients of its 2007 Ernest Amory Codman Awards for effective use of performance measurements in quality and patient safety. The winners include Addiction Treatment Services of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Baltimore; Broward General Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Christiana Care Health Services, Wilmington, Del.; St. Joseph Healthcare, Lexington, Ky.; Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Center & Home, New York; and Seton Family of Hospitals, Austin, Texas.
In addition, the commission named an individual award winner, John Wennberg, director of the Center for Evaluative Clinical Services at Dartmouth Medical School, Lebanon, N.H. The awards will be presented Nov. 12 during the commissions National Conference on Quality and Patient Safety in Chicago. -- by Jean DerGurahian
