Hospitals added roughly 9,400 workers in October, boosting overall hospital employment by 0.2% to 4.6 million, according to preliminary, seasonally adjusted figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. For the year ended in October, hospital employment rose by about 106,100 workers, a 2.4% increase.
Physician offices added some 5,000 workers last month, which nudged physician office employment up by about 0.2% to 2.2 million workers. In the 12 months ended in October, physician offices employed 71,700 workers, an increase of 3.3%. -- by Melanie Evans
