Computer Sciences Corp. agreed to acquire First Consulting Group for about $365 million, the companies announced.
Computer Sciences, El Segundo, Calif., an information-technology services company, will pay $13 per share for First Consulting, a Long Beach, Calif.-based healthcare IT firm with 2,500 employees worldwide and annual revenue of $264.1 million in 2006. Computer Sciences expects to strengthen its healthcare capabilities and expand global delivery through the acquisition, according to a news release.
The deal is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2008. First Consulting will announce a special stockholder meeting to obtain approval for the acquisition.
Computer Sciences, with about 87,000 employees and revenue of $14.9 billion, closed up $1.04 at $58.39 Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange. -- by Jean DerGurahian
