Leaders of the Medical Group Management Association are gearing up for the anticipated release of the Medicare physician-fee schedule later this week. The schedule, which would take effect on Jan. 1, is expected to reduce Medicare payment rates to physicians by 9.9%.
In a Washington update to attendees of the MGMAs annual meeting this week in Philadelphia, Leah Cohen, one of the associations government affairs representatives, said the CMS could release the fee schedule in the next three days. Lisa Goldstein, another MGMA government affairs representative, said the associations Washington office is preparing an analysis of the regulations to send to its members as soon as they are released.
Separately, the MGMA named Warren White Jr. as its board chairman for 2007-08. White is the administrator of the Southwestern Medical Clinic in Berrien Springs, Mich. White succeeds Donna Knapp, administrator of Pulmonary Medicine Associates in Reno, Nev. -- by David Burda
