The Arizona senator and Republican presidential candidate has added details to his plan first announced Oct. 12, 2007. He has sought tax credits of $2,500 to every individual and $5,000 to families as an incentive to buy private insurance. He wants to end the tax exclusion for employer-sponsored care. More recently, he announced plans to assist the uninsurablethose without prior group coverage or with pre-existing conditions. McCain said he would work with states to establish not-for-profit corporations or risk pools that would contract with insurers to cover those who have been denied insurance.
