Information technology is playing a critical role in the much-needed modernization of healthcare, the head of Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner Corp. said Monday. "Technology is going to continue to advance," Neal Patterson said at the 2007 Cerner Health Conference at Bartle Hall. "What we're building is the real platform you're going to deliver medicine on." Patterson also said greater use of IT will eliminate the frequent payment delays that plague health providers.
