Lee Domanico resigned as president and chief executive officer of Legacy Health System, Portland, Ore., according to a news release from the system.
Maggie Huffman, spokeswoman for the five-hospital system, said Domanicos resignation was effective immediately.
Domanico, 54, who became Legacys top executive in January 2006, said in the news release: I am extremely pleased and proud of what Legacy has been able to accomplish. With the boards help and a strong management team, the health system is now well-positioned for the future.
Domanico could not be reached for comment.
Legacys board Chairman Robert Bentley said in the release that Domanico resigned to pursue other opportunities in healthcare. A search to replace Domanico will begin immediately, the news release said. -- by Melanie Evans
