The federally supported Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel is looking for comments from the public on a set of recommendations on its plans to make to the American Health Information Community, an IT advisory panel at HHS.
Comments will be accepted online through Oct. 16 on three data-transmission specifications: for consumer access to healthcare information through networks; consumer access through portable media; and an interoperability specification for data transmission on healthcare quality. Also open for comment is a document containing requirements and standards to meet an AHIC use case for medication management.
Questions about the process are to be referred to Michelle Maas Deane, the HITSP secretariat, at [email protected].
HITSP was created by the American National Standards Institute, which certifies standards-development organizations, after the ANSI was awarded a $3.3 million contract by HHS in 2005 to develop a process to select appropriate healthcare IT standards to promote the electronic transfer of healthcare information.
