Thomas Nasca has been named chief executive officer of the Chicago-based Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. He will replace David Leach who is retiring as executive director on Sept. 30.
Nasca joins ACGME from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, where he has worked since 1992. He was appointed dean of the medical college in 2001 after serving as director of the residency program and associate dean for graduate medical education. Before that, he was on the faculty at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh for 11 years.
Nasca, an internist and nephrologist who received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in 1975, has chaired the ACGME residency review committee for internal medicine and is a member of the HHS Council on Graduate Medical Education. -- by Andis Robeznieks
