The two hospitals in Pottsville, Pa.159-bed Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and 200-bed Pottsville Hospital and Warne Clinicsigned a letter of intent to undergo a detailed study to see if it is in the communitys best interest to consolidate under a common local parent.
The feasibility study is expected to take up to nine months to complete, during which time no further announcements would be made, officials said. In the fiscal year ended June 30, 2006, Good Samaritan earned net income of $760,000 on total patient revenue of $131 milliona break-even bottom line, according to the American Hospital Directory, an online database. That same year Pottsville similarly broke even, earning a total of $660,000 on total patient revenue of $143 million.
