Pharmaceutical services company AmerisourceBergen, Valley Forge, Pa., has initiated the first phase of a restructuring plan that includes streamlining its executive suite.
The move, according to AmerisourceBergen Chief Executive Officer R. David Yost in a news release, was spurred by the recent spinoff of AmerisourceBergens institutional pharmacy businesswhich in August joined with Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare to form PharMerica Corp.and the decision by former company President and Chief Operating Officer Kurt Hilzinger to resign his post. Hilzinger will join a private-equity firm.
Under the restructuring plan, Hilzingers position will not be filled, and Yost will again assume the position of president of the company. Steven Collis will remain president of AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group and will also take on the title of executive vice president of AmerisourceBergen. In his expanded position, Collis will be responsible for shaping the companys strategies and integrating the specialty group into the corporatewide structure.
Michael DiCandilo will continue as executive vice president and chief financial officer and will also take on expanded duties. Terrance Hass will be promoted to executive vice president and chief integration officer for the entire company from senior vice president and president of AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp.
Company executives and board members are still completing plans for AmerisourceBergens fiscal 2008, which include redeveloping the companys information-technology platform. -- by Shawn Rhea
