Nancy Andrews, M.D., was named dean of the Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, N.C. Andrews, 48, is leaving her position as dean of basic sciences and graduate studies at Harvard Medical School, Boston. Andrews succeeds R. Sanders Williams, M.D., who was recently promoted to the position of senior vice chancellor of academic affairs after six years as dean of the medical school. Andrews, a pediatric hematologist/oncologist, is a member of the Institute of Medicine and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences this year. Andrews is the first woman to lead the Duke medical school.
