The group purchasing organization Amerinet, St. Louis, has acquired DataBay Resources, a software developer specializing in revenue-enhancement and spending-management tools, and Inquisit, a provider of Internet-based healthcare-education programs.
The companies were acquired for an undisclosed amount from Amerinet Central, a Pittsburgh-based shareholder in Amerinet. The acquisition continues an effort by Amerinet to consolidate its ownership and services under a single entity, according to company spokesman Harold Aughton. In July 2006, Amerinet tendered shares from its founding ownersregional GPOs Vector Healthsystems of Providence, R.I.; Intermountain Healthcare of Salt Lake City; and Amerinet Central of Pittsburgh.
The acquisitions will allow Amerinet to move forward with its strategy to broaden the services currently offered to member hospitals, according to a company news release. -- by Shawn Rhea
