The new organization being formed by the consolidation of Catholic Health Initiatives
seven Kentucky facilities does not yet have a name, but it does have a leader. Eugene
Woods has been named chief executive officer of the organization which will begin
operation in January 2008.
Since March 2005, Woods, 43, has been the president and CEO of St. Joseph Healthcare, a
Lexington, Ky.-based, four-hospital system that will be consolidated into the new group.
He was the unanimous choice of the search committee, a news release said. Previously,
Woods was the senior vice president and chief operating officer for the 841-bed Washington
(D.C.) Hospital Center.
Modern Healthcare recognized Woods as an Up & Comer in 2001, and named him one of the Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare in 2006.
He serves as the Kentucky regent for the American College of Healthcare Executives. --
