Mountain States Health Alliance, Johnson City, Tenn., hired Craig James as chief executive officer of 15-bed Dickenson Community Hospital, Clintwood, Va., and 60-bed Norton (Va.) Community Hospital.
Mountain States is in the process of acquiring a 50% interest in the two hospitals from a local community foundation that owns the two facilities. James, 49, also will be a vice president of Mountain States when he joins the system next month.
James is leaving his position as CEO of 110-bed Person Memorial Hospital, part of the Duke University Health System, Durham, N.C., and he also has worked for the Carilion Health System, Roanoke, Va. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. -- by Vince Galloro
