Regarding The ID got lost in the alphabet soup:
Shawn Rhea teases about a problem with much more serious implications. Serious at least to those fighting ever increasing supply costs in our facilities. In fact, our industrys inability to develop a universal identifier system stems from a combination of medical-supply manufacturers not wanting comparability of products/prices, and the lack of fortitude on the part of hospital administrators and/or the organizations that represent them. As the consumers of these products, we should be demanding manufacturers provide the information we need. Instead we continue to accept their stalling while our supply costs escalate.
