Texas Health Resources, Arlington, has named Edward Marx as the system's new senior vice president and chief information officer, effective Oct. 1. Marx succeeds David Muntz, who left THR for Baylor Health Care System last year. In the interim, Mike Alverson has served as acting chief information officer. Since 1999, Marx, 42, has worked at University Hospitals Health System of Cleveland, where he was promoted to CIO in July 2003.
Before that, he worked at HCA in Nashville, Tenn. Marx began his career at 266-bed Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo., as a physician services coordinator and was trained as a medic in the Army Reserve, according to THR. Marx earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in business, both from Colorado State University.
