Ernst & Young hired Bruce Vladeck, former interim president of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, as an executive director in its health sciences advisory services division. Vladeck led the Health Care Financing Administration, now CMS, between 1993 and 1997. He will begin Sept. 12, an Ernst & Young spokeswoman said. Vladeck previously worked for the New York consulting firm from 2004 until March 2006 when he joined the troubled Newark, N.J.-based UMDNJ. The school, facing criminal prosecution for healthcare fraud, agreed in 2005 to a federal monitor and payments totaling $4.9 million to state and federal governments. Vladeck stepped down from the school at the end of June after the school hired William Owen Jr. as president. Owen was formerly chancellor of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, and the University of Tennessees vice president for health affairs. -- by Melanie Evans
