Two top executives at UnitedHealth Group are leaving the company. Richard Anderson, an executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group and president of the companys Commercial Services Group, has been named chief executive officer of Delta Air Lines, effective Sept. 1. Anderson, 52, who has been with UnitedHealth for nearly three years, was formerly CEO at Northwest Airlines and serves on Deltas board of directors.
Lois Quam, an executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group and president of Public and Senior Markets Group, is leaving for Piper Jaffray & Co., where starting in late September she will be managing director for alternative investments, a new position focusing on healthcare and clean technology sectors. Quam, 46, had been with UnitedHealth since 1989.
The Minnetonka, Minn.-based insurer named William Munsell as Andersons replacement heading up commercial services, and Anthony Welters to Quams former post. -- by Rebecca Vesely
